Hasbro unveiled some exciting new toys at their 1997 Toy Fair catalog that thrilled and captivated collectors. But among the final production versions of these beloved playthings, the catalog also offered a glimpse at some early concepts that were far different from what ultimately hit store shelves. Getting a sneak peek at these prototypes that never saw the light of day was a rare treat for toy aficionados hungry for a behind-the-scenes look. While the final products may have been more polished and kid-friendly, these raw conceptual drafts radiated untamed creativity.
These pages featured the iconic Luke Skywalker (Ceremonial) figure with early unproduced head sculpt and the Power F/X Obi-Wan Kenobi, which was originally planned to have blue lightsaber for screen accuracy. However, it was changed to green as the blue LEDs were considerably more costly at the time of production.
I am not 100% sure, but I don't believe the Electronic Com-Link Communicators shown above were actually produced.
